This era signifies the revitalization of Temple University’s Black Student Union. With an enhanced dedication to change, unity, and community - we are bringing something this campus has never seen before, to life. With an emphasis on giving back to the youth in the community and building a stronger bond amongst the Black students on Temple University’s campus, the Re-Up Era is an era YOU don’t want to miss. With a new executive board, new programs, new social media, and (finally) BSU shirts - everything is new. This is the Re-Up Era!

So, why “Re-Up”? After conducting a vote amongst executive board members on which name best encapsulate this new era - executive board member, Olivia Watson’s, suggestion won! Inspired by Travis Porter’s song “ReYup” - we are proud to introduce to you Black Student Union’s “Re-Up Era”!

Our history

Founded as the Black Student League in 1968, the Black Student Union strives to build and unite the Black student body at Temple University, and the Black community throughout North Philadelphia. We have a long, positive, and extensive history of educating the community through programs, events, community service, and cultural experiences. The Black Student Union helps to provide an environment for students to strive for excellence by understanding our past, improving the present, and securing our future. In doing so, the Black Student Union has been able to make a huge impact on Temple’s campus, and we hope to continue this work for years to come.

When Does bsu meet?

Our bi-weekly programs are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at 6PM. However, due to Temple University’s academic calendar, some dates may be changed. However, events and community service opportunities are held on different dates and times throughout the year.

is it free to join?

Yes and no. To learn more about our membership tiers check out our home page. In short, we offer 3 membership tiers:

  • Mid (free)

  • Vibe ($16)

  • Goat ($21)

Memberships only last for the entirety of the semester. Therefore, you must renew your membership each semester. If you are interested in upgrading your membership, please email us at bsu.temple@gmail.com or message us on Instagram @templebsu.

How do i upgrade my membership tier?

Upgrading is super simple. Just press right HERE and make sure to fill in all the blank spots and insert a picture of payment to our CashApp ($BSU25). If by any chance, you don’t have CashApp, let us know your desired way of paying in the email. Lastly, if moving up a tier, you will have to pay the full price.

How many goat member spots are there?

As of right now, there are only 40 Goat Member spots. However, depending on interest, we may increase this number some point throughout the year.

How can i get involved?

BSU offers executive committees, that enable members to be an unofficial member of the organization. These committees are a good stepping stone to becoming an official member of the executive board. Our current executive committees are: content creation and event planning.
